Properties and advantages of porcelain stoneware
Porcelain stoneware is more flexible in its application than any other building material. Nevertheless, it has all the qualities that discerning builders associate with a noble stone floor. Our technostone is a technically produced stone made of natural quartz, feldspar and a proportion of kaolin. The natural "stone components" are ground finer than flour, pressed and sintered at a temperature of over 1200°C. It is therefore produced "technically". This is what makes porcelain stoneware so variable. Our technical stoneware is available in a wide range of colours, patterns and structures.

Technical advantages of porcelain stoneware
- Porcelain stoneware is abrasion and scratch resistant: Our Technostein has a hardness of level 8 according to Mohs. The Mohs scale ranks from 1 to 10 and provides a relatively good estimate of the degree of hardness for stones. The set levels of the scale are based on which stone can be scored by the next hardest. For comparison, a diamond has level 10, and a Topaz is on the same level with our Technostein. This makes our porcelain stoneware incredibly robust.
- Acid-resistant and fireproof.
- This means that our technostone remains lightfast and colourfast, which means you will always enjoy it.
On top of all this, porcelain stoneware also has an antibacterial effect, which brings us to the next category within the advantages of Schubert Stone's technostone:
Cleaning porcelain stoneware - a great advantage
- Tiles made of porcelain stoneware are inherently very hygienic. This results from the antibacterial effect mentioned above.
- In general, our technostone is insensitive to stains due to its high density and acid resistance.
- If stains do appear, they are easy to remove for this very reason.
- Even if the stains are stubborn, the advantage is that you can use even the toughest cleaners! Our technostone owes this to its robustness.
What are the advantages of porcelain stoneware over natural stone?
In addition to the advantages already mentioned, the following can be noted once again in comparison to natural stone:
- Its robustness makes our technostone extremely resilient and therefore very durable.
- There are almost no limits to your creativity or ideas. Patterns, colors and sizes can be adapted to your wishes. Whether you want to have your tiles in slate look (only much more robust and easy to clean), or your patio floor in wood look, but without much maintenance: porcelain stoneware provides you with a combination of the best properties!
- Our Technostein tiles are available in almost all dimensions. We can therefore also supply you with stone tiles up to a size of 300x150cm. An ideal size for laying seamless wall tiles for the shower!

Bathroom wall and floor tiles
Tiles made of porcelain stoneware in the bathroom are ideal because of their advantages.
Thanks to their processing, they are very compact and do not absorb water. Clean limescale and dirt with the harshest (even acidic) cleaning agents. The combination of moisture resistance and durability is ideal for wet areas. Our Technostein can also be wonderfully combined with underfloor heating! Design your walls with floor-to-ceiling slabs. This means there are hardly any joints and thus a generous, refined look.
Kitchen tiles and worktops
Our technostone is also ideal for the kitchen. Whether as a worktop, floor tiles or wall tiles. It is heat-resistant and insensitive to stains, as well as easy to clean - even with very strong cleaning agents if necessary. This makes it easy to clean up any cooking accident without leaving any traces.
Porcelain stoneware outdoors
As resistant as porcelain stoneware is, it is of course also suitable for outdoor use. Whether as a terrace floor, around the pool or simply as a stone path in the lawn. Our technostone is definitely a good choice!

Porcelain stoneware is absolutely frost-proof, scratch-resistant, homogeneous in the stone structure, robust, dense (no staining) and has no problems when you clean your surface with the Kärcher. Your floor is also completely safe to drive on (if laid in mortar on concrete) and thanks to its haptics also pleasant to walk on barefoot. Due to its low weight (thickness 2cm: 50kg/m²) also ideal for roof terraces.
