Modern house in Nassau with Technostein exterior
The specifications
The challenge of this project was to lay a durable oil-proof stone for the car entrance, where the tyre tracks are not visible. A beige stone of the same size was to be created for access to this special house by the sea. A granite conglomerate was chosen for the façade. The Viennese architect selected the varieties together with stone expert Thomas Schubert at the stone centre. The SCHUBERT STONE laying partner then flew to Nassau, took the measurements of the façade electronically and then cut the slabs exactly to size.
Delivery to Nassau
The slabs were properly packed and loaded into 3 containers together with the 1,200 m2 of Technosteine in 60x60x2cm and shipped to Nassau. The SCHUBERT STONE - laying partner, together with a team from Austria, then professionally covered the façade and laid the technostone. The customer was thrilled and ordered another 2 containers of the same technostones for the remaining paths and the pool area.
Statement of the architect:
"The curved façade is reproduced on the surface of the outdoor facilities. And not in a normal projection, rather the shadow cast by the façade coincides with the curved line in the ground at a very specific point in time during the course of the day, the interface in the change of materiality and colour of the surface. The technostone was chosen because the forecourt is used as a car park and the requirements for maintenance and weathering are particularly high here in the Bahamas, especially due to the salt-water-laden air."
