Palais flat with marquetry floor in Vienna
In this city flat, the client wanted an exclusive floor in marquetry design with selected Spanish limestones that harmonised with each other. According to the architect's design, the floor was precisely cut using water jet technology. After installation, the entire floor was grouted, sanded over and polished to a completely even finish.
First, the stone technicians created an exact CAD plan of the inlay pattern according to the architect's specifications, which was then translated into a CNC programme for the machine control of the waterjet system. Waterjet cutting produces a cut with a width of 0.1-0.2 mm at a water pressure of 400 bar. Waterjet cutting allows 100 % repeatability and any complex and filigree external and internal cutting shapes.
