Anniversary celebration: 50 years of SCHUBERT STONE
The 50th anniversary of SCHUBERT STONE: a milestone that reflects decades of commitment, change and perseverance. On this special day, Thomas Schubert, the second-generation Managing Director of SCHUBERT STONE, warmly welcomed guests, customers, friends and family.
Thomas Schubert, who is the second generation to manage the company, opened the celebration by welcoming the district head of the 23rd district, Gerald Bischof, in particular. He spoke with gratitude about how SCHUBERT STONE has gone through the turbulent developments from its analog beginnings to the digital age, always adaptable and ready to evolve.
However, before Thomas Schubert told the story of the company, he addressed special thanks to his family. His wife Heidi Schubert, who has been by his side for 38 years, was recognized for her constant support and help in the company. His mother Nina Schubert, co-founder of the company, was also present, and Thomas Schubert highlighted the valuable lessons she had taught him - particularly the importance of customer satisfaction and keeping a close eye on the numbers. Even after her retirement, Nina Schubert continued to advise clients, underlining her ongoing dedication.
The memory of Thomas Schubert's father, Karlheinz Schubert, was also very much present. Karlheinz Schubert had passed away just twelve days before the event at the age of 88. As a true communications artist and one of the company founders, he played a key role in shaping SCHUBERT STONE. Today, he would certainly have been proud to see his family together to honor his life's work.
Thomas Schubert then took the audience on a journey back to the founding days of SCHUBERT STONE. His parents had founded the company in December 1973 during the oil crisis as a natural stone and heating oil trading company. Soon, however, the focus was placed exclusively on the stone business. They were pioneers in this field, being the first company in Vienna to sell porphyry and Solnhofen limestone to private builders. Thomas Schubert recalled how his parents' house initially served as a showroom and how his parents delivered the stone slabs to customers' construction sites in their own car.
Thomas Schubert joined the family business in 1981, fresh from the HTL. He describes the following 25 years as an exciting, sometimes chaotic, but also successful time working with his parents. Together, they developed SCHUBERT STONE into an important player in the natural stone trade. New product lines such as Technostein and parquet were added to the range, enabling customers to purchase all floor and wall coverings from SCHUBERT STONE.
Thomas Schubert was particularly proud of the contributions made by his two children, Carina Schubert and Mathias Schubert. Carina Schubert, who worked as Marketing Manager at the company from 2014 to 2018, provided valuable input that helped the company move forward. She now holds a management position in another company.
Mathias Schubert has been with the company since 2018 and is responsible for digitalization, marketing and optimization. With his help, the entire company was modernized and online marketing was professionalized. Thanks to his work, SCHUBERT STONE is not stuck in the "Stone Age", but has developed into an innovative company.
Of course, there were also difficult times. In 2018, SCHUBERT STONE had to discontinue the production of kitchen tops and stonemasonry work for economic reasons. The company reinvented itself with a new Corporate Identity new. By focusing purely on floor and wall coverings, the collections for natural stone, porcelain stoneware and parquet were greatly expanded and exciting new products were created. Projects are being made. Today, SCHUBERT STONE presents more than 2000 types of stone in its 3000m² exhibition center, including a popular outdoor exhibition for terraces, walls and paving stones.
Today, SCHUBERT STONE works with a well-coordinated team of 10 employees, some of whom have been part of the company for over 25 years. Thomas Schubert emphasized their many years of experience and commitment and expressed his gratitude to them: Without their efforts, the company would not be where it is today.
