Limestone is always on trend
When it comes to interior design, natural materials such as stone and wood are particularly popular in 2017. The trend has long been Limestone. Limestone is versatile and therefore the perfect stone for houses and apartments. Inside, it also goes perfectly with Parquet flooring.

Limestone has tradition
Limestone is a sedimentary rock formed by the deposition and compaction of mud, clay, ash, fossils and other sediments. Limestone is one of the oldest building materials known to mankind. Limestone floors have been laid by humans for over 10,000 years - and they have lasted just as long. Even in the Stone Age, people equipped a place of worship with a limestone floor, which is still preserved today: Göbekli Tepe in Turkey. Even the Greek temples and Roman palaces and villas still delight visitors today with their original floors. It is also interesting to note that limestone was used in most buildings worldwide before 1920, as granite was too hard to work with.

Over 11,000 years ago, people in the Stone Age furnished a place of worship with a limestone floor, which is still preserved today - just like the Roman palaces and villas that still delight visitors with their original floors. Thomas Schubert, Managing Director of SCHUBERT STONE, is regarded as the stone expert in Austria. Limestone indoors
Which limestone surface is best for the interior should be considered individually. A tumbled or brushed surface is usually offered. Limestone is basically always white; mineral admixtures determine the final color of this natural stone. Light limestone floors with subtle, warm shades ranging from light grey to a cream/beige color are timeless. These colors make rooms appear brighter, friendlier and larger.

In modern homes, antique limestone floors with slightly rounded edges can be used - they balance out a lot of glass and light-colored walls and offer a pleasant feeling of living. Limestone can even be used in bathrooms, as it is pleasant to the touch. barefoot and gives this room a much greater sense of value. On the floor and on the wall, a matching washbasin can be custom-made from large slabs of the same stone. In one of our reference projects, a Villa in Lower Austriathis was implemented in this way.
Limestone does not require much maintenance. Simply impregnate after laying when the floor has dried out. However, it should be noted that every used limestone surface will show signs of wear over time - in other words, provided it is properly cared for, it will acquire a noble Patinawhich contributes to the beauty of the natural stone. "Limestone is like a good wine, it only gets better with age," says Thomas Schubert, Managing Director of SCHUBERT STONE.
