The cult club Pratersauna is a household name for every Viennese. Recently, star restaurateur Martin Ho, already successful with his Dots restaurants, a café, a gallery and the club VIE i PEE, took over the Pratersauna.
It was quickly clear to the neo-owner: the Viennese cult club was to be gently revitalised, but the typical architectural character was to be preserved.
In addition, the location was to be brought technically up to date and feature a few new accents. As a highlight, Martin Ho planned a 19-metre-long natural stone bar - and asked stone expert Thomas Schubert for support.
"A bar in a club has to look great, but also be robust and easy to clean," says the stone expert. "My suggestion was therefore a cream-coloured, translucent quartzite that is acid- and scratch-resistant".
To achieve a luminous effect, green luminous LED strips were attached to the substructure. The natural stone bar is thus the unmissable focal point in the main room of the Pratersauna.
In a "making of" we show you the creation of Austria's longest backlit natural stone bar with a total length of 29 metres. You can admire the bar in person from 29 April.
