Stone expert Thomas Schubert: The perfect kerbs for your pool
A dip in the cool water is probably one of the best pleasures on hot summer days. If the swimming pool is also in your own garden, the summer happiness is perfect. Natural stones are a popular material for the area around the pool. Stone expert Thomas Schubert reveals which stones are particularly suitable and what properties they must have.
Mr Schubert, why do you need a pool surround?
Poolside stones are an excellent way to make the surroundings of a swimming pool attractive. But they also fulfil other important tasks: Poolside stones increase safety and reduce pollution of the pool.
What should you look for when choosing a stone for the pool area?
Swimming pool surrounds should be easy to clean, non-slip and slip-resistant. On hot summer days, the stone must not heat up too much so that walking barefoot remains pleasant. Pool edging stones for outdoor pools must also be frost-proof and resistant to weathering.
Which natural stone is suitable for use in the pool area?
Crystal marble fine grey is particularly suitable for a modern-style swimming pool surround with its soft grey tones. The light colour prevents the poolside stones from heating up in the sun and is therefore ideal for walking barefoot.
The light-coloured Levante Crema fine-rough limestone pool stones convey a flair of holidays and the beach. Roughening the surface gives this stone its elegant light cream colour, reminiscent of fine sandy beaches. When stepped on with wet feet, it is extremely slip-resistant.
For which type of pool are natural stone surrounds suitable?
Pool coping stones can be adapted to any pool shape. Our experts will work with you to plan the perfect pool coping stones. The stones are then cut and finished in our in-house stonemasonry workshop.
